I tend to read the creation story as a rapid progression of
events:
SunRiseGodSpeaksSunSetGodSpeaksSunRiseGodSpeaksSunSetGodSpeaksSunRiseGodSpeaks
and so on.
As though each day took only minutes and seconds.
But our God is a God of consistency.
Those days were just as long and short as they are now.
The
Sun stood, the Earth spun, and the day passed as any day would.
Then God cared as He designed and thought through and sculpted
and molded and took His time.
And He saw that it was good. And there was evening, and
there was morning, a full day.
